The Future
"The future is the indefinite time period after the present. Its arrival is considered inevitable due to the existence of time and the laws of physics. Due to the apparent nature of reality and the unavoidability of the future, everything that currently exists and will exist can be categorised as either permanent, meaning that it will exist for the whole of the future, or temporary, meaning that it won't and thus will come to an end. The future and the concept of eternity have been major subjects of philosophy, religion, and science, and defining them non-controversially has consistently eluded the greatest of minds" [1]The Future is something well known throughout the entire world because it is a major part of time. It's thought of in religions to do with life after death and karma; in philosophy where they believe only the present exists; and there's even a futures study within science. It effects everything in the world, of course because it is the existence of the world in several years time.
There's also a variety of theories behind what will happen to the world in the future; whether technology will take over, zombie apocalypse, nuclear wars and a variety of other theories, even some that may seem incredibly bizarre.
Age and the Future
Memory Loss
The Causes:· Poor Concentration – if you don’t notice things as much then you are not going to retain as much information.
· Depression – some people with depression can also have slow thinking causing memory problems.
· Physical Illness – certain illnesses can affect the way your brain works. Infections such as chest and urine infections can cause sudden confusion especially in the elderly.
· Medicines – certain medicines can cause confusion and memory problems
· Age – age affects memory in general and makes it harder to learn new skills, or easily forget names of people.
- Dementia
Dementia
What is Dementia?
A condition of the brain, which causes a gradual loss of mental ability. It can include problems with memory, judgement, understanding, thinking and language. It can also result in other problems such as; changes in personality, and changes in the way someone might react in social situations.
Causes of Dementia
· Alzheimer’s disease – the most common type of dementia, causing about half of all cases. In Alzheimer’s disease the brain shrinks and the numbers of nerve fibres in the brain gradually reduce. It gradually worsens over time as the brain becomes more affected.
· Vascular Dementia – this causes a quarter of all cases, it is due to problems with the small blood vessels in the brain. It is like having many tiny strokes, that otherwise go unrecognised, throughout the thinking part of the brain. After each infarct some brain tissue is damaged, meaning the person’s mental ability gradually declines.
· Dementia with Lewy body (DLB) – this causes 15 in every 100 cases of dementia.
