3D Modelling - Spaceship research and creation

After making a couple of designs of the spaceship and ending up with the model shown in Lesson 1, i still wasn't quite happy with my result. So I went back into Maya and started again, however this time I researched into different spaceships to take ideas from. Also I mainly focused on the top of the ships design and this was because I knew the game I was making it for, and that the camera on it was facing top down.
I mainly looked into space shuttles to create my final model, and this was because they are easily recognised and have a good design.


I then worked off of some reference photos and used the tools and skills I had already learnt within Maya to create a final spaceship model. This involved shaping the basic shape out first, and then editing it into the little intricate designs like getting the shape of the wings right, and making sure the cockpit was in there. It took me a little bit of playing and designing, but I finally got to a final model that I was happy with.
