Beyond The Boundaries - My Idea

My project for third year first came from my love of travelling, sometimes my mother even jokes that we have travellers blood because she has this passion also. Initially I just wanted to travel from Malaga in spain (my mother currently lives there) all the way over to Copenhagen, however once I looked into that and talked to a couple of people about it that trip seemed a bit too difficult. So my back up plan was to travel Britain, to go from Land's End to John O'Groats which seemed a lot simpler than the original route.
This was all well and good however I never really had a reason to take this trip other than 'I wanted to', so I had to start racking my brain for a concept or reasoning to actually do it which was incredibly difficult. Eventually I came up with the idea of showing my transition into the 'real world' from University life using this trip and a blog, I was basically chucking myself in the deep end of life and having to figure out everything for myself, as well as meeting people along the way and asking about their first experiences in work. I explained this to a friend and he helped me come up with a solid concept for the blog/film:

A document discovery of the world outside of the conventional norms

This concept will not only allow me to travel and photograph the UK, due to the journey itself being outside of the conventional norm, but also to meet people who do work that inspires me greatly, people who are involved in the following forms:

Underground Art
Underground Film
Underground Music
Drag Culture - Manchester Only

So to summarise; for my third year project I am going to be travelling the UK from Land's End to John O'Groats, not only documenting my progress but also gathering information that can help both myself and other people progress into adult life outside of the norm.
